Let me start this Halloween blog off by saying that Dayne absolutely hated his costume. We began trying it on him a couple of days ahead of time so he would get used to it. As you can see by the following pictures we had a rough start. He was little dumbo, and Jason, well he's big dumbo. In order to get Dayne to finally wear his costume, we explained to him that he would get candy. So when he tried it on again, we gave him candy. He felt this was a decent trade-off for his torture.

Halloween day arrived with a wonderful whirlwind of activities! The Halloween festivities began that afternoon with a parade at Lewisburg Elementary of all the students. Dayne and I watched as each of the kids paraded around the black-top in front of all the parents and the entire student body by grades. Faith was so cute, she went as a cheerleader and while at first she looked a little uncertain, she saw us and livened up.

Later that afternoon when Jason got out of school, we dressed the kids up and headed to the Greenbrier Hospital to go trick-or-treating. Faith decided that she needed to be a dead cheerleader and Dayne was Dumbo. The hospital puts on a huge Halloween blast on the track of the middle school which is right next door. Many booths are decorated for the kids to go around to and get candy. They handed out the best candy and a lot of it. Dayne kept wanting to eat his instead of asking for more- at least he kept his costume on.

Jason's school had a booth there. It was actually a small haunted house. Faith wanted to go in so I said okay. They were playing scary music and the guy at the beginning looked scary, but she walked right in. The very first room was the Disney Princesses. That was so cool. The rest of the haunted house was a little scary, but at the end they gave her about 12 pieces of candy- good candy.
As we continued around the track it began to get cold. So after the kids loaded up on treats, Jason and Faith and Brandon (Jason's friend from school) headed to the giant slide while Meagan (Brandon's wife), Dayne, and I waited in line for a balloon. We then met up with the guys and stood in line for what seemed like forever so that the kids could ride the "fish" ride. It was really fast and I didn't know how Dayne was going to handle it. When it was over all he could say was "more more." We then took them to a spaceship ride. It went up and down and had extremely fast spurts. The seat belt didn't even touch Dayne because he is so little. Faith made her daddy put Dayne on the inside so that he would be safe and lean against her. I told Faith that she had to hang onto him. It was so sweet, he just leaned up against her as she had her arm around him holding on tight and you guessed it - he had a blast and wanted to do it again. We then let them little dinosaur ride which ended up being boring to them after the spaceship ride. The kids had a blast though at the carnival and the best part about it, it was all free!
We then went to Little Ceasar's, with the rest of Lewisburg, and got pizzas and met Meagan and Brandon back at our house. Pizza, cupcakes, and candy- what a wonderful end to a wonderful day.
