The Moores Whirl Into Town!

We had a wonderful week with our friends. Bobby and Christy and Emma and Luke drove all the way from Texas just to see us. Really Bobby had work in D.C. so he graciously made a detour to see us and drop the family off. The kids were so glad to see each other. It was late Friday evening when they arrived and it was cold. We had some pizza and magic-bars- yum! On Saturday I took them to the Greenbrier Hotel

and to tour the beautiful neighborhoods over there and then we met up with Jason for some Mexican food. Afterwards, we headed home to celebrate Emma's Birthday. I made the cake and the kids decorated it.
Sunday, we had a wonderful day at church and then we headed to the lab. Christy was dying to see all of the dead bodies. When we got in there, she was so grossed out and couldn't believe how close I was to the cadavers. It was too funny.
Monday dawned with the threat of snow, but Bobby had to get on the road and Jason and Faith had to get to school. So we saw them off and piddled around the house until it was time to pick up Faith from school. Afterwards, we took the kids to Lost World Caverns. They had a great time perusing the gift shop then headed outside to see the animals. Before we knew it they were up the hill and petting the horses. I took off to grab Dayne and caught up with him down the road chasing the other kids. The snow was coming down hard but they didn't even notice with the dog and horses to play with.

The snow continued to fall all night and the next day. School was cancelled both Tuesday and Wednesday. We ventured out to shop since that's what Christy and I do best. The snow was beautiful and the kids had a great time playing in it.

On Wed. afternoon we headed over to D.C. to meet up with Bobby. Since we had 3 car seats and another kid not in one, I had the privilege of riding in the floorboard of the backseat. We stopped at a Target along the way though so it was worth it. Bobby met us on the outside of town to lead us and we got to eat at On The Border- oh, it has been too long since some delicious Mexican food made it into this stomach. We then drove around the mall area of D.C. to see the sites and then to the hotel.

Thursday morning had us rushing around like madmen trying to get ready and the kids out of the door. We only had a few hours to spend at the zoo before my parents' plane landed. So we headed to the zoo and only got lost one time. Pretty good for two girls so far away from home. It was very cold so we bundle up tight and headed in. The National Zoo is amazing. The panda bears were so precious and you could get close to a lot of the animals. The kids had a great time (despite the bickering b/n the girls). We returned Christy and the kids to the hotel and said our goodbyes. It was a nice end to a wonderful week.
