My sweet Faith turns 8

I can't believe my sweet baby girl is having another birthday. She is growing up so fast and there is nothing I can do to make it slow down. So I will just enjoy every moment with her while I can. On a personal note Faith, you have had to deal with a lot of changes this past year and I am so proud of  how you have handled yourself. You have the most amazing and giving heart of any young person I know. And you have a laugh that lights up this world. Don't ever quit laughing my sweet Iddy Boo.

For her 8th Birthday, Faith insisted on having a slumber party. So on May 29th, 2009, we agreed to let her have 5 friends to come over and share in the celebration.

We had everyone meet at our house at 6:30. They all wore the bathing suits as we walked to the park down the street for some games. Nevermind that it was about 50 degrees outside and they were going to freeze.
So we started off with a scavenger hunt. They had to find different items that I had hid around the park. They each had a partner, above is Faith and partener Mary-Adaline discussing the list. They lost, but in all fairness, they had a bit of a set-back. As Mary-Adaline comes running up to me to tell me that she just peed in her pants and didn't know why. She just giggled about it and then went on with the game. Crazy, I know!

Anyway, after the scavenger hunt we had a waterballoon toss.

Then we had a waterballoon fight... they had a blast!

Jason then went home to get the pizza rolls started and I let the girls play at the park for a few minutes.
They began to freeze, so we played follow-the-leader all the way home so they could get their PJ's on and warm-up.

Everyone ate pizza-rolls and chips before we started playing some more games. Dayne had to join in the festivities!

Afterwards we played  pin the crown on the princess.....

and the cotton-ball game.

It was finally time for cake and ice-cream...

And then the best part for any kid's birthday....present time!! I had each of the girls come sit by Faith while she opened her gift from them....and boy did she get spoiled!

Faith finding out about her trip to Disney World. We gave her a small gift and when she opened it, it was maps of Disney World. We thought she would be really excited, but she was kind-of quiet about it...I think she was in shock. After she opened her gifts it was time to get out the sleeping bags.

And now for mommy and daddy's favorite time.....bedtime!

Or so we thought. We put a movie on and told the girls that they could talk and watch the movie, but when it was over then needed to go to sleep. They must have come into our room no less than 6 or 7 times to tell us about one drama or another. Some were arguing because they wanted to go to sleep when others didn't. And then some got scared because Faith convinced them that there was a skunk on our porch. I think they finally settled down about 3:00am or so.

The next morning we got up and served donuts and juice and their parents retrieved them about 10:00am. Whew, what a long night. I think we are good for at least 2 mores years before we have to have another one.

Happy Birthday my sweet girl. We sure love you!

  1. You are such a wonderful mother! Faith’s party looks like so much fun. I love it because it’s simple and not over the top but ya’ll did lots of fun things. I’m still just in complete disbelief that she’s 8!

    Love you
