Easter 2009

What a wonderful time of year to celebrate! Our precious Savior willing died for you and me some 2000+ years ago, nothing else in history matters. We are so blessed to serve our risen Savior. This is truely the best celebration of the year.

It seems the small town atmosphere tends to provide a swarm of family activities this time of year. Faith and Dayne hit the jackpot; however, it is our desire for them to understand that Jesus is the real treasure and why we celebrate Easter. Thank you Heavenly Father for Your Precious Son.

The easter egg hunts began early this year (March 20th) when Nonie and Poppie came to visit. Knowing that they weren't going to be at Easter, they decided to hide eggs for the kids one day. Faith came home from school and the hunt began. Dayne was so excited, he loved getting the eggs, but wanted to stop and open the eggs to see -and eat- what was inside.

Faith's eggs were hid a little bit harder so it took a little bit longer. I love that she is still at an age to get joy out of the little things. She was so precious out there deligitely hunting for each of her eggs.

They found them all. Now it was time to head inside for their prize eggs.

Check out their loot! Faith's favorite, a giant chocolate bunny.
On April 3 we headed to an Easter party at Jason's school. It was pouring down rain and cold so they moved the activities inside. To get the party started they offered everyone donuts, cookies, and punch. Ahhm nothing like a sugar rush to hunt eggs. Jason and I had to split up since Faith and Dayne's hunts were at the same time. Faith's group could go into a hallway and go one of two ways. Only she and one other girl decided to head to the right. Can you say cha ching! She filled her basket and scored 3 prize eggs. Evidently Dayne tore up his hunt as well, coming away with 4 prize eggs. The kids then got to go to a table and turn in their prizes papers for prizes.
As you can see below Dayne got a squirt gun, some bubbles and a rubber snake. Faith got a huge thing of playdoh, bubbles, some bracelets. We gave one ticket away to a little boy who didn't get a prize egg. They had so many prizes to give away that every child got at least one.

Next it was time for games. Faith finally got Dayne in the potatoe sacks, but he would not race.

Faith and I headed to the floor for some three-legged-race races. Yes, we did win the first one and would have one the next 3but stopped before the finish line. We did win the final race as well. Then Dayne had to join in the fun. He made me carry him, he was so tired at this point.

They gave prizes away for winning the races too-crazy. This is what my babies came home with.
On April 11, we headed to a neighboring town for an Easter celebration in the park. Roncerverte is an even smaller town than Lewisburg, but they through a huge party. It was a very cold and rainy day, but we bundled up and had a great time. As soon as we arrived, it was time for Dayne's age group to hunt eggs. I helped him on the field and he loved it. He came away with 3 prize eggs, he knows how to pick them.

He went to the prize table and picked a basket of goodies, a rubber ball (his favorite) and a small cloth baseball. However, his favorite prize was a tractor he found later in the day to sit on.

Next we took the kids to the jump house while we waited on Faith's age group to hunt eggs. They were freezing and the bounce house helped to warm them up.

We headed back to the field and still wasn't Faith's turn so we took the kids down by the river to look around. They loved watching it as it was flowing really good at the time.
Finally, it was Faith's turn. She took off running grabbing as many as she could. She got several small prize eggs, but was disappointed that she didn't get one of the large ones like Dayne. But she had a good time. And later Dayne shared his big basket with her.

Later that evening, after a nice long nap, we colored Easter Eggs. This was Dayne's first time to understand the concept and anything that has to do with water is right up his alley. Let the fun begin.
Faith got very creative with her eggs. She colored one of them with an invisble crayon and then dipped it in the dye. Dayne however just kept sticking his same egg in a different color. It was just for to play in water outside of the bathtub.

They colored and colored until Dayne's hand was stained blue and Faith's clothes were stained blue.
The finished product, are they beautiful?!?!?!

That night the Easter Bunny visited.

The kids couldn't wait to wake up and see what the Easter Bunny had brought.
Faith had to get her bunny out again after she got dressed for church and have her pictures made with it.
After a wonderful morning at church we posed on the rock in the front yard for more pictures.
We are so very blessed! Thank you Lord for Your precious gift of salvation.
